I've been going to Dr Ace for about 3 years now. I am a transplant to the area so Dr Ace and team picked me up with somebody else having done the work. I wish I had lived in Austin years ago and known about Dr Ace. This place is great, and I've recommended them personally so thought I'd recommend them on here also.

The Dental Implant Process What You Can Expect During Implant Treatment

Our experienced dentist can perform implant surgery and design
and place your new restorations at our Round Rock practice

Through dental implants, patients can have a functioning, confident smile in less than a year.

Scans

If you are a good candidate for dental implants, Dr. Jovanovski will take a CBCT scan of your mouth to use as a surgical guide that optimizes implant placement and the overall treatment plan.

Placement

A local anesthetic will be used; we also offer sedation options to help make patients comfortable during treatment. A small incision will be made in your gums, and Dr. Jovanovski will strategically place the titanium implant into the jawbone at the optimal angle to provide the most support. Your incision will then be sutured closed.

Osseointegration

Your posts will need to fuse with your jawbone through a process called osseointegration. This process can take between four and six months. You will be fitted with temporary restorations while you heal. This allows you to enjoy a functional smile the same day as surgery

Abutments

After your implants have completely fused to the jaw, you will return to our practice for abutment placement. Abutments are connector pieces that attach the implants to your dental restorations.

Restorations

Once you have fully healed from abutment placement in about four to six weeks, your restorations can be placed. Depending on whether you are missing a single tooth, several teeth, or a whole arch of teeth, Dr. Jovanovski may place a dental crown, bridge, or denture.

Take a Look at How Implants Work

During dental implant placement, an implant post is inserted into the jawbone. An abutment is then added to the implant. This allows Dr. Ace to secure your restoration to the implant post.

Dental Implant Candidacy Are Implants the Best Restorative Dentistry Option for You?

Dr. Ace's elite prosthodontics skill and over a decade of experience allow him to properly evaluate implant candidacy. While most Round Rock and Georgetown patients qualify for this procedure, some factors must be assessed by Dr. Ace:

Overall Health

You should be in good overall health before undergoing the implant procedure. Any underlying medical conditions can affect your ability to heal and increase your risk of complications.

Oral Health

You should be free of any dental issues like tooth decay or gum disease before implant treatment. While you can still be a good candidate for implant surgery, any oral health concerns will need to be treated first.

Smoking Habits

Smoking or using tobacco products can increase your risk of complications during surgery and affect your ability to heal. It is recommended that you quit smoking several months before implant treatment.

Jawbone Density

You must have sufficient bone density for your implants to be placed. Grafting bone tissue to your jaw may be necessary to prepare your jaw for implants if you have suffered any bone recession.

Your Commitment

While this treatment only requires a few appointments to get your results, it does involve a long healing process. You must be committed to the process to ensure the best results.

Many Patients Can Qualify With the Help of Dr. Ace's Expert Care

Dr. Ace Can Prepare You for Dental Implants

As discussed above, oral health concerns and insufficient jawbone density must be treated prior to receiving dental implants. Dr. Ace can perform this preparatory dentistry treatment to restore your candidacy.

That means you can receive oral surgeries like a sinus lift or bone graft from the same prosthodontist who will then place your implants. His ability to handle many procedures helps foster the trusting patient-dentist relationship he cherishes.

The All-on-4 Method Can Simplify Treatment

Our Round Rock dentist also offers the All-on-4® method for placing dental implants. This procedure is best for patients who need to replace an entire arch of teeth. Rather than the typical six or more implants to support your denture, Dr. Ace uses just four implants placed at strategic angles to securely hold your new restoration.

This method is great for patients who have experienced minor jawbone atrophy and don't want to undergo a bone graft, as it requires less bone density than the traditional method.

We Have Restoration Options to Fit Every Patient's Needs

Our quality restoration options look and function just like your natural teeth. Depending on your oral health and aesthetic goals, Dr. Jovanovski will recommend one of the three below options:

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are best for patients missing a single tooth or multiple non-adjacent teeth. We have two options: screw-retained implant crown or cement-retained implant crown. A screw-retained implant crown is attached to the abutment outside of the mouth. After minor gum reshaping, the crown and abutment are fastened to your dental implant. Cement-retained implant crowns are cemented over the abutment inside the mouth. This crown is designed to not go beyond the gumline.

Dental Bridges

An implant-supported bridge fills the gap for people who are missing one tooth or a few adjacent teeth. While traditional bridges grind down the neighboring teeth to place the restorations, implant-supported bridges leave them intact. Implant-supported bridges are a great option for people who have healthy adjacent teeth.

Dentures

Implant-supported dentures can replace an entire arch of missing teeth. Unlike traditional dentures that can easily slip out of place while eating and speaking, dental implants provide a sturdy base and prevent your dentures from moving. By using the All-on-4 method, Dr. Jovanovski can restore your smile with just four implants.

Sedation Options Available

We want to make your dental treatments as painless as possible. While Dr. Ace thoroughly numbs the area before implant placement, we also have sedation options to help those who have dental anxiety or other concerns that may make dental treatments difficult for them. Let us know what we can do to make your dental experience under our care as comfortable as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Implants

Q. Does implant placement hurt?

A. No. Dr. Ace will thoroughly numb the area before any treatment begins. Our Round Rock dental practice also offers multiple forms of sedation dentistry to ensure you are completely comfortable during your procedure.

Q. How long will my implants and restoration last?

A. Dental implants are made of durable titanium. They are designed to last a lifetime. However, your restoration will wear over time and will eventually need to be replaced. With proper care and maintenance, your dental crown, bridge, or denture can last for up to 15 years or more.

Q. How do I care for my restored smile?

A. One amazing thing about dental implants and implant-supported restorations is that you will care for your smile like you would your natural teeth. Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing at least twice a day. It is also important to continue regular dental exams and cleanings to keep your new smile healthy and beautiful for years to come.

Q. Will I need to avoid certain foods with an implant-supported restoration?

A. No. Because the restoration is secured directly to the implants, you can enjoy all the foods you love. There is no risk of slippage when you eat or speak like there is with traditional dentures. However, it is important that you do not use your teeth as a tool to open packages or bite your nails, as these habits could damage the restoration as well as natural teeth.

Q. I was told I don't qualify for dental implants to address my tooth loss. Can you help?

A. Depending on why you didn't qualify, Dr. Ace may be able to help. For those who need preparatory treatment in order to qualify for implant placement, we offer comprehensive restorative and general dentistry options at our Round Rock practice to help you achieve a healthy foundation. Dr. Ace is also happy to provide a second opinion in order for you to feel confident in your treatment options.

Have more questions?

"Dr. Ace and his team are very courteous professionals. They truly make you feel important and treat you accordingly. Especially, Dr. Ace himself is very personal and makes you feel at ease during the treatment. I feel that choosing them was a best decision I made. I think they are better equipped and have better resources for doing such a long and complicated job. I am fully satisfied and happy, and I am looking forward for their post-treatment for my teeth. Thank you all for a wonderful job." Subhash Vohra
