Sedation Dentistry

Here at Jovan Prosthodontics, Round Rock, TX dentist Dr. Ace Jovanovski offers several dental sedation options, allowing each patient to find the best solution to their dental anxiety, no matter how severe it is.

We understand that dental anxiety can manifest in different forms for different people. We believe you deserve personalized treatment in relieving it, which is why we offer patient amenities that can help relieve your dental anxiety.

For those patients who are not sufficiently soothed by our office, we offer multiple types of sedation dentistry.

When you come to our office, you’ll be able to talk with our staff about any dental worries you might have and which of our four different sedation methods might be best for you and your procedure.

Laughing Gas

If your anxiety is relatively mild, laughing gas may work best for you. This procedure is simple and involves breathing in laughing gas through your nose and mouth. After you begin breathing in this mild gas, you will feel calm and content.

You can expect to be fully conscious but relaxed during your procedure while using laughing gas. Unlike other forms of sedation, the effects will wear off shortly after your procedure. Laughing gas is a great way to reduce anxiety while also ensuring that you’ll be able to safely drive yourself home from your procedure afterwards.

Oral Sedation

Maybe you have experienced subtle tension when you’ve visited dentists in the past. As frustrating as it was, you may have considered it unavoidable. Fortunately, even in the case of minor anxiety, Round Rock, TX dentist Dr. Ace Jovanovski can prescribe a pill before your procedure, so you can feel relaxed while attending your appointment.

By taking this pill shortly before your procedure, you’ll be awake and conscious but relaxed enough that you won’t feel anxious during your treatment. Being conscious during a dental treatment and recognizing that you are fully capable of going through these procedures can help many patients overcome their initial dental anxiety!

Though you will need a ride home after your appointment, this is a great way to overcome your dental anxiety while getting the dental care you need.

IV Sedation

Perhaps your anxiety has grown severe enough to keep you from visiting a dentist altogether. If so, IV sedation, a deep form of dental sedation, may be for you. While you will remain conscious during your procedure, any tension will melt away as you fall into a dreamlike state.

In addition to relaxing you during your visit, you will remember very little of your visit when you return home and may in time, feel less dental anxiety at each visit.

In order to ensure your safety, you will need a ride home after your appointment.

General Anesthesia

Perhaps you’d rather not remember your experience at all. We can also offer the strongest form of dental sedation, general anesthesia, which will put you fully to sleep almost instantly.

Because you will be unconscious, you will not recall even a glimpse of your procedure when you leave. With this method of sedation, you can avoid any potential for anxiety whatsoever. Your procedure will be finished and behind you by the time you wake up!

OVERCOME DENTAL ANXIETY!

If you suffer from dental anxiety, it’s easy to come up with reasons to avoid the dentist. However, avoiding dental care like this can come at a cost to your oral health! Instead of allowing anxiety to determine the level of your oral health, consider utilizing our sedation dentistry options.

We know that dental anxiety is a real concern for many people, and we want to work with you to help you overcome it. We believe that our sedation dentistry can offer you a win-win situation; your teeth will receive the care they need, and you can begin to control your dental anxiety.
